Nourish the Soul, Serve the World this Dhu al-Hijjah
“That they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah on known days over what He has provided for them of cattle. So eat of them and feed the poor.”
– The Holy Qur’an, 22:28
The first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah are the most sacred days of the year, loved by Allah (SWT). By giving to Islamic Relief USA, you can reap the rewards of this blessed month and serve those in need. Not only do you fulfill the charitable obligations Allah has set for us, but you also help relieve some of the burden that struggling families face.
Ali is a father of 11 children and farms tomatoes, onions, lettuce, lemons, dates, and guava. Ali recalls his years as a teenager when his family raised livestock. “When I was a teenager we were pure nomads with more than 80 camels and 700 sheep and goats… There was no fear of hunger and displacement.”
Due to recurrent droughts in Somalia caused by climate change, Ali lost most of his livestock. He turned to farming but struggled due to lack of water access. Thanks to your donations, a drip irrigation system and shallow well were installed, and Ali received agricultural training. Now, he’s confident his yield will be higher than ever.
